Conway gives up his weekend to cover for an ill Meadows, who is meant to be deputising for an absent Brownlow. He has tickets for the afternoon game at Stamford Bridge, but his plans are shattered when Lennox calls him in to authorize a personal sample being taken for elimination purposes. When the complainant refuses to press charges and withdraws her statement, Conway is furious that his weekend has been interrupted. Meanwhile, Lennox recognizes Santini and Hagen's latest prisoner, a D&D found at the wheel of a car to be Mal Mayhew, a wanted man that CID have been pursuing for months. When Conway offers to sit in on interview, Lennox calls Meadows and soon arrives, in spite of his 'flu.
